The Purple Tank is a special piece in the line up. It provides total control and reliability on the lanes. I have been throwing this piece a lot since I received my 1st one. From tournaments to league it’s been getting a lot of use. I used a 4.5’ pin layout to help it get down the lane while allowing it to still create shape off the end of the pattern. The cover is also very versatile in cover changes. Shined up it’s able to store energy and shape more off the end of the pattern and with lower surface it’s able to start up earlier keep that smooth traditional urethane shape. The purple Tank I’ve been using the most is at 3k surface. If you’re looking for a controllable piece or something for higher friction backends check out the Purple Tank today!

This Tank is the first urethane ball I have ever thrown or owned. This ball hooks more than I really thought it would. This ball is going to work great in the shorter oil patterns and when the backends get really dry. This ball is very clean on the lanes. This will be a ball that never leaves my bag.

Not all urethanes are created equal. After years of testing and development, which included the fortuitous development of microcell polymer technology, the Purple Tank has arrived and is staking its claim as a seminal ball in modern urethane. By pairing the new Purple Solid Urethane coverstock (finished at 1000 LSS) with the taller Flux Symmetric core (2.57 RG, .015 differential), a superior reaction amongst other balls in its category has been achieved.
I have not been someone who has often thought of throwing urethane since I am a tweener and can get left and throw the ball out to where the friction is. While the hype of this ball grew on me into thinking I might be able to effectively use it, I was not prepared for exactly how stunning its versatile reaction truly is. The first time I threw it was in game two of a league night. This strong shell had no issues reading the lane early enough to start a good, strong motion to the pocket while eliminating the volatility of the backend over/under that had developed. When I would miss a little outside, the taller Flux core would provide just enough wobble to get the ball to tip up in the friction and hit the pocket while continuing through the 5-pin strongly. There is a good chance that I could have thrown this on the fresh that night and seen just as good of a reaction. The next time I tried this ball in league was a game three where both teams had scorched the track-and-left area. Even though I had to be further left than I was comfortable with urethane (at the time), this ball did not disappoint. I was able to open up the lane thanks to the cover/core combination allowing more energy retention than a typical urethane would be able to produce. While I wasn’t wheeling the lane like a reactive ball, the sheer strength of movement this modern urethane unleashed was more than any urethane I had ever thrown, or seen thrown, before.
If you are looking for a urethane ball that creates more motion and power than urethanes that have come before it, grab a Purple Tank. If you need something for drier conditions or oil patterns that you need the utmost control on the backend, grab a Purple Tank. If you are a urethane skeptic but are willing to try something that can dramatically change your mind about the abilities of urethane, grab a Purple Tank. Basically, if you’re a bowler, just grab a Purple Tank.

The Purple Tank is the first true urethane release by Motiv in a long time and it's a homerun! I haven't used a lot of urethane on the regional tour, but I will definitely have at least one of these with me at all times, as it's the perfect compliment to the Microcell Polymer tanks when you're looking for just a little less shape overall.
Being a lefty, this ball will also come in handy for me when the pattern is beat up and instead of moving further inside, I can move further left and not worry about the ball over hooking in the friction.
This is a huge game changer for me and it will be for you as well!

I just got the Purple Tank. It is my 1st urethane ball but I’ll tell anyone, if they are looking for a ball that grips and rips, it would be this ball. I shot a 206 out of the box with it not really knowing how it would react. Even if you don’t hit your mark perfectly, the motion from the Tank goes through the pins leaving you wanting more strikes. I would highly recommend this ball especially if you have only bowled with balls from just one other company and want to have a good switch in your arsenal.
That being said, I bowled with it on 35 board pitching it to the 10 board and it comes back effortlessly. The few shots that I tried to push more to the 5 board should’ve went into the ditch but the Tank pulled through and came back. Can’t wait to use it in my home alley tonight to see how well I do.
